1.How do I write a good answer in the exam of a Master of Arts English (MEG) at IGNOU?

Answer:

Here I am attaching my three hand written answers with you on fiction points. I will share answers on non-fiction points later.

1) Any type of answer writing, according to me, should be in following point wise manner

a) Introduction : Introduction of writer, and his literary work in general. Introduction to particular literary work in particular (on which we are writing answer)

b) Main content of answer in logical order point wise

c) Conclusion

2) What is the basic mistake which most the students repeat in exam ?

students read question' title, Ohhh this question is about particular poetry/drama/novel/short story and they will usually write entire story or story in brief of that particular poetry/drama/novel.

We are not supposed to reproduce answer in literary story mode, but we are supposed to answer on particular point/character/theme of that particular drama/poetry/novel/short story.

In fiction, it could be poetry, novel or short story or drama whatsoever you might be asked following types of question

03) You may be asked to explain any particular/theme/point/aspect/Character of respective poem/novel/drama or short story than our answer must be stick to that particular theme/point/aspect/style of writing. we should not to try explain entire literary story in general.

Meg 2 - mention that these lines have been taken from this play, by this author, and that this play was first performed in this year. You should also write a few general comments that this play was considered to be one of the greatest Elizabethan/Absurd/etc plays. Then you should define the context in which the given dialogues are spoken. You will need to write: Who speaks these lines in the play, what is the immediate situation going on, Whom are lines spoken to, and what happens after these lines. Definitely comment on what is the significance or meaning of these lines. You should also add a note about the style, whether the dialogues are in prose or verse form, whether there is anything unique about the language (for eg, in The Playboy of the Western World, the playwright has imitated the countryside mannerisms of Mayo in Ireland). Also if you notice any rhyme scheme or alliteration or other figures of speech. You should be able to write this answer in about 2 sides of a page.

Identify dialogues, who is speaking the dialogues, who is it spoken to, what happens after those lines, significance.

Play name, plot, author, performed, comments, age, context, style in prose or verse.

Unique about the play and language used.
